Soucieuse de se démarquer de ses concurrents dont les modèles en stainless steel et cristal de bohème font masses sur le marché, la jeune marque Japona Hookah décide de créer un narguilé aux lignes uniques.

Its main characteristics? The almost exclusive use of precious woods, handcrafted manual work and low production volumes.

In order to find out a little more about the origin of the brand and the novelties planned for 2019, we interviewed Stanislav Oleynikov, founder of the Japona Hookah brand.

MisterSmoke: We think the design of your hookahs is really beautiful. Where did this Japanese inspiration come from?

Japona Hookah: For me, Japanese design is a brilliant and unforgettable style. Real wood is a visually and tacticiously very pleasant material. Japanese craftsmanship is recognized worldwide for its high quality and we try to reproduce it as faithfully as possible.
Our main idea was to embody the Asian style in a traditional oriental hookah.

M.S.: What kind of wood do you use? And where do they come from?

J.H: We mainly use hard woods such as ash, acacia or walnut. We are supplied from Russia and Ukraine.

M.S: What process is used in the design of the column?

J.H: The column is coated with a protective oil and not with varnish. This process takes place in 3 stages and requires several days of drying for each stage.

M.S: Your favorite model?

J.H: The Shuriken, the first model of the range.

M.S: Are there any new developments planned for 2019?

J.H: We are working on new wood species and new colours such as red, black and yellow.
Soon, the whole range will be offered in these colours. New vases will also appear in a very Japanese design, in the shape of samurai masks.

All these models have the same technical characteristics. What's the difference? The size and shape of the column.
