The reconstructible atomizer - What you need to know

What is a reconstructible atomizer?

Anatomy of the reconstructible atomizer

  • A connecting pin, also known as a screw thread.
  • A base commonly known as the Bottom cap.
  • An ariflow corresponding to the air intake system.
  • A mounting tray.
  • A spray chamber.
  • A reservoir or tank to integrate the e-liquid.
  • A column of air, the chimney through which steam flows.
  • A top cap designating the lid of the atomizer.
  • A mouthpiece that is more commonly known as a drip tip.

Why adopt the reconstructible atomizer?

Although mounting one's own resistance may seem constraining for some, this system is nevertheless very advantageous in terms of the vape experience felt. Indeed, by creating your own resistance, you will have the choice to make the one that fits your steamer aspirations the best. Steam production or flavor rendering, you will be able to manage this equation in your own way. Making the choice of a reconstructible atomizer also allows you to expand the choice of material, much broader than that of conventional clearomizers.

From a financial point of view, the reconstructible sprayer also scores points. By way of comparison, a ready-to-use resistance costs on average between 2 and 5 euros, not counting the fact that it will have to be replaced between 2 and 4 times a month. That is a cost to be considered rather consequent for resistors. When making your resistor, you will only need to buy cotton and resistive thread, which is the cost of a few cents. We let you do the math, the overall bill is still much more advantageous by adopting the reconstructible spray.

The more manual ones will also appreciate the playful aspect by making their own montages, like a real little do-it-yourselfer. You will also find the pleasure of consuming your own creations, constantly adjusting them so that they become totally in tune with your type of steaming. DIY being in the air of the time, it is the occasion or never to follow this fashion.

How do I use a reconstructible spray?

As mentioned above, do not expect to be able to start your vape as soon as you receive your reconstructible atomizer. Time will have to be taken beforehand for the realization of the assembly of its resistance. An adaptation time will even be required before reaching a successful outcome. Not that the assembly is very difficult to perform, it is just necessary to integrate the right help.

Because, in reality, resistance is rather easy to mount. All you have to do is cut a piece of resistive wire and turn it around an axis in order to create a spiral. Once done, you will have to fix this first realization on the mounting plate. The procedure will end after adding a little cotton and filling with e-liquid.

Several types of assemblies are possible. The most common, and therefore the simplest, is the micro-coil, whose technique is based on several spirals touching each other. For less novice vaporisers, it will be possible to create spaced spirals for a different rendering.

The different types of atomizers

Today there are three main families of reconstructible sprayers, each with its own characteristics. To help you find your way around at the time of purchase, here's a little something to clear your mind.

Dripper sprayer - all you need to know

The dripper atomizer

With its very minimalist appearance, this type of reconstructible atomizer, also called RDA, prevents any storage of liquid due to its lack of tank. The goal is to generously soak the cotton dripper in e-liquid. To not risk the dry hit, you will have the only constraint to proceed with this feeding regularly.

This technique allows a much higher power than with an atomizer including a tank. Indeed, by letting the liquid from the tank flow continuously, the cotton tends to dry out faster than it feeds in case of too much power. Either a higher risk of dry hit, which the sprayers try to reduce by removing the tank to manually initiate their resistance. The dripper thus goes directly through this step: its design offers quick and easy access to the resistance so that it can be fed manually at all times.

The other advantage lies in the good conservation of the e-liquid. By keeping it in a tank and not in its original bottle, the liquid is permanently exposed to heat, which can alter its aroma. With the dripper, your e-liquid rests in its bottle, without any risk of wear and tear.

This type of reconstructible spray is generally very popular with fans of large clouds practicing Power Vaping. Adepts of good flavor rendering will not be outdone either, since the dripper can multiply the restitution of aromas tenfold. Moreover, it is particularly suitable for beginners who are not yet comfortable with capillary management. Feeding the resistance with e-liquid will certainly have to be very frequent, but it will be much easier than with other types of reconstructibles.

genesis Atomizer - all you need to know

The Genesis Atomizer

As its name suggests, the Genesis was one of the first rebuildable atomizers on the market. Its system is similar to the dripper; the atomization chamber is located independently of the tank. But this resemblance is distinguished by the supply of e-liquid, located in Bottom-feed or Top-feed, either at the top or bottom of the atomizer. In case of liquid reserve in Bottom-feed, the sprayer will not have a tank but will be perforated so as to let the cotton wicks soak well from the tank. This technique will allow the e-liquid to rise gradually by capillarity to the resistance. The advantage is to benefit from a much hotter steam than with other types of tanks.

If the Genesis is offered as a top-feed, the tank will be pierced with a small hole, designed to receive the cotton or fiber wick. As with Bottom-feed, the e-liquid supply will be done by capillary action. And conversely, the propelled steam will be colder because of the distance of the resistance of the drip tip.

The Genesis is located between the dripper and the vacuum atomizer, and has simplified mounting access. Its flexibility offers the opportunity to constantly adjust the power via manual resistance feeding. Also, the restitution of aromas is improved thanks to a good preservation of the e-liquid, which is relatively far from the resistor.

This type of atomizer is mainly intended for use in steamboats used to rebuild. Beginners could indeed be quickly lost by the essentially manual handling of the Genesis. Making this type of assembly can not be improvised, that is why it is recommended to start with a less flexible system to learn the nuts and bolts of this method of operation.

The tank atomizer

The tank atomizer, also called vacuum atomizer or RTA, is undoubtedly the most common on the market. As its name suggests, the liquid supply is made within the tank via a vacuum technique. To make it clear, after the suction action from the drip tip, the air will partly empty from the spray chamber. The airflow and the tank will then be subjected to a suction action, resulting in a vacuum that will draw liquid from the tank into the chamber. The resistor is energized, and vaporization can begin. This method allows the resistor to be fed much better than with a conventional tank. Thanks to this increased supply, the steam delivered is much denser and richer in flavor. To achieve this result, it is essential to precisely dose the cotton provided to absorb the flow of e-liquid. By integrating a too light cotton, you may encounter problems of liquid rising, and conversely, if the cotton is too large, you can suffer the dry hit. It is therefore essential to make a precise assembly to enjoy an optimal vape experience.

With the tank atomizer, you can benefit from three different types of assemblies:

  • Micro-coil: this is a cotton wick stuck between several tightly wound turns.
  • Mesh: this system consists of the integration of a wick in the form of a fabric called Mesh. This assembly is commonly known as Genesis.
  • Silica fibre: this assembly works with loose coils, similar in shape to a small white rope.

The atomizer tank will be ideal for steamers in search of power, liquid consisting or practicing high-frequency steam. But the primary interest is to be able to adjust infinitely the assembly of the atomizer so that it sticks as close as possible to its expectations.

How to choose your reconstructible atomizer?

Not all reconstructible sprayers on the market will necessarily be adapted to your consumption profile. That's why it is essential to think carefully about which one best suits your style of vape.

In terms of experience, beginner vaporisers will be more comfortable with the dripper atomisers (or RDA). This type of atomizer will allow you to get your hand before moving on to more difficult to handle equipment. But it is quite possible to start on tank atomizers (or RTA) if the assembly does not scare you. Nothing is prohibited, as long as the assembly methods are well integrated.

In addition to these skills with the assembly, it is just as necessary to choose its reconstructible atomizer according to its internal elements.

The mounting tray

An assembly tray is an important criterion, especially for tank sprayers where assembly is done manually. You will find more or less wide trays on the market, which do not always facilitate a quality realization. A narrow mounting plate will be less accessible than a wider one. For a first purchase, it is highly recommended to turn to the latter in order to assimilate a good experience in assembly, and then turn to more complex assembly trays.

The capacity

A tank atomizer usually has an excellent capacity, up to 6 ml. Having a good capacity will acquire a sufficiently large autonomy to spray several hours without risk of running out of liquid. An essential criterion for a pleasant and non-frustrating experience of vape.

The filling

Each rebuildable sprayer has a filling system, either Bottom-feed or Top-feed. By opting for a bottom-feed filling, which is done by unscrewing the base, the convenience is less easy, especially when you travel. Top-feeding tends to become more popular thanks to its much less restrictive aspect.

The airflow

The steam and flavour restitution is largely caused by the airflow system integrated in the reconstructible atomizer. The more the airflow will be open, more steam will be important, but the flavors they will be less rich. Who says a lot of air, says necessarily high consumption of e-liquid. We must therefore ensure that you always walk around with a full bottle to fill the tank at any time. And conversely, the tighter the airflow, the lighter the steam and the more loaded the flavours will be. The ideal is thus to opt for reconstructible atomizers with an adjustable airflow, so that you can adjust the airflow according to your expectations of steamer.

Like other types of equipment, it is essential to choose its reconstructible sprayer according to his habits and expectations of vape. To do this, it is useful to identify if you are adept at direct or indirect inhalation.

Indirect inhalation

As a reminder, indirect inhalation consists of aspirating the vapour before ingesting it. This type of aspiration is rather narrow and does not require the use of an atomizer with a strong airflow.

Indirect inhalation will be possible with a tray intended for the integration of a single resistance and with the association of a drip tip with a relatively tight opening. This type of inhalation will favour the restitution of flavours thanks to a light power between 12 and 22 watts. In terms of resistors, it is advisable to opt for a value between 0.9 ohm and 2 ohms, or even 1.2 ohm or 1.5 ohm.

Direct inhalation

With direct inhalation, the idea is to integrate a large amount of vapour directly into the lungs. This type of aspiration is possible on equipment with a large airflow.

Atomizers with a double coil tray will be necessary to take advantage of direct inhalation. Single-coil trays with several pads supporting wide or thick resistive wires are also possible. The particularity of this type of inhalation is to work with powerful equipment, able to propel more than 35 watts, as well as with resistances lower than 0.5 ohm.

A reconstructible atomizer with a very large airflow and a very large drip tip, will be an excellent choice to benefit from the virtues of direct inhalation. Large clouds of steam and made less flavor will be put.
